YTSS Sec 3 Camp at KOREF

It was the first time YT had their Sec 3 camp at Malaysia. It was a totally new experience =) Once again, i survived the camp without falling (excuse me!) haha, you know who you are. Was there as Student Leader, erm, really a very different feeling from when i had my sec 3 camp 2 years ago. Many more benefits i would say, don’t have to squeeze in the dirty toilets to bathe, don’t have to get scolded (sometimes), i can leave my shirt un-tuck, wear coloured-ankle socks. ha, so much for being an ex-councillor. BUT thats not the main point. the point is, i’ve really learnt alot during this whole experience. How to get along, how to survive the camp being the ONLY female SL (mind you, it’s not easy okay). How to be more flexible, how to do things in a more organised way, how to get my instructions across in an accurate and efficient way.how to start a really awesome campfire. It’s different when you handle a level of 300 plus peps, compared to just 90 plus guides. haha =)

The activities are unique, never will you be able to do it at the Singapore campsite. It was the first time i tried bamboo rafting =), its a pity that i didn’t try the water obstacle =( argh well.

Organic rice. yikes! The first time i tried it, was like shit! seriously. Later on got used to it, its rather okay. I mean its camp?! haha

Night walk was really cool. It was damn dark, and I had to be stationed in the forest? ah well you cant call it a forest i think. Well, just call it the place. heh =) On the 2nd night i remembered clearly that i had to sit under a particular tree asking students to turn to their left. haha. sometimes its really funny because the students cant see me, so when i suddenly speak they will be like, “argh ghost!” HAHA. & i think i saw a firefly or maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me, coz i wasn’t wearing my spects. I’m surprised that i didn’t freak out because i really hate insects, worse still it was pitch dark, i couldn’t help but wonder what am i sitting on! haha. Overall, i really love the clear sky filled with stars. I swear its really beautiful =)

Camp fire was awesome, thanks to zhe bin and the help of few others, we were able to set the structure right. The twist to it was that we added sparkles to it, so was really beautiful. It was also the first time we tried throwing kerosene “bombs”. The atmosphere at the campfire was high. I’m so proud of YT zens!!!

The instructors there are nice peps, we always refer them tot he ‘green-shirt pple” haha. But they are really excellent peps and its cool to have such a job, running camps =)

The camp ended well, everyone left KOREF campsite with a wide smile =) i took back with me many memories. Wish all the Sec 3 well for their O LEVEL year ahead. REACH HIGHER! A big thank you for the school for giving my this opportunity to join the camp. I really enjoyed myself YEAH!
